TATTERSALLS TO FEATURE WORLD CLASS OLYMPIC ATHLETES ON JUNE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

HORSE Sport Ireland CEO Damian Mc Donald said that the Three Day Event at Tattersalls International Horse Trials will be one of Ireland’s most significant sporting events, across all sports, in 2013.

“While there are many other attractions for people to enjoy at Tattersalls this is first and foremost a world class ultra competitive sporting event featuring an Olympic sport in which Ireland is now genuinely competitive,” he said.

“This event is an opportunity to see the world’s number one and two ranked athletes, both Olympic medal winners at London 2012, competing against Ireland’s five Olympic eventing athletes on Irish soil. In what other Olympic sport will this happen in 2013? The cross country phase, in particular, is a thrilling spectacle. With Cross Country action now taking place on both Saturday and Sunday at Tattersalls there is double the opportunity to see what will be a brilliant spectacle,” he said.

Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair is set for the June Bank Holiday weekend 30th May – 2nd June.

Horse Sport Ireland confirmed that the Game On 2FM Sports Show will be broadcast live from the venue at 7pm on Friday, May 31st.

“We are delighted that the Damien O’ Meara and the Game On 2FM Sports show will broadcast from the venue which should help to encourage more general sports fans to come and see Three Day Eventing first hand,” he said.

Mr. Mc Donald made his comments at Tattersalls where he and Tattersalls Managing Director Roger Casey had an opportunity to view the spectacular new ‘Walled Garden’ feature fence.

Roger Casey, Managing Director, Tattersalls Ireland commented: “We would like to sincerely thank Horse Sport Ireland for their continued support again this year. Horse Sport Ireland have long recognised the strategic importance of the Tattersalls International Horse Trials event and have played an integral role in this event developing over the last eight years. That ongoing support is essential in providing a secure future for the international horse trials.”
