Description
In the spring of 2009 a number of horse breeders and producers travelled to Germany on a Teagasc educational tour which included visits to various horse breeding establishments where the emphasis was on producing top showjumpers. The group realised that continental breeders invested a huge amount in planning breeding programmes and preparing future performance horses. They also wanted to share information and learn from each other’s experience. As a result Waterford Sport Horse Breeders Group was formed under the direction of Ruth Fennell acting as facilitator.
The group’s chairman is John Walsh, Elizabeth Kee is the current secretary while Nell Dalton is the groups treasurer. Meetings are held every four to six weeks.
