Upcoming sales at Clifden and Cavan

This weekend at Clifden, the Connemara Horse and Pony Sale will take place over Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th. There are 399 lots offered over the two days, the catalogue is available here.

The sale experienced great success last year with an impressive 86% clearance rate, and almost half of the ponies sold went to pastures new when sold to international buyers. Ponies were sold predominantly to the UK as well as to France, Germany and Holland. Seven ponies sold for more than €3,500, and the top two lots were sold for €4,200.

This year, the trends are expected to mirror those of last year and years previous – the number of ponies sold to international buyers has been steadily on the rise. Lots offered this year include ten lots by the popular sire I Love You Melody, and frequently featured in pedigrees are sires Westside Mirah and Silver Shadow.

At Cavan Equestrian Centre, the next upcoming sale is the Horse and Pony Sale for 3-year-olds and upwards on the 6th of March.
