Sergio Alvarez Moya, Spain’s leading Showjumper, purchased the Irish Sport Horse MHS Attraction at the end of 2017. The current world number 15 and the Irish-bred mare are now entered for their first FEI show together – Oliva CSI2* in Valencia, Spain, this week.
MHS Attraction was bred by Michael Brennan and went on to win the Five Year Old league final of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Series in 2015 under the ownership of Michael’s brother Tim Brennan, and ridden by David Moran.
The Numero Uno mare was subsequently purchased by Bourns Sport Horses and, under Jenny Rankin (IRL), went on to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook at the FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, Belgium. The pair returned to contest the championships again in 2017.
“We are very excited about the partnership of Sergio (Alvarez Moya) and this wonderful mare. MHS Attraction is a fast moving, fast thinking, exciting horse. They are a great match and we look forward to seeing her on a world stage with Sergio. Jenny (Rankin) did a great job developing MHS Attraction over the past few seasons” Richard Bourns (Bourns Sport Horses).
An embryo transfer herself MHS Attraction has also been able to pass on her talent to the next generation through this method. MHS Attraction had three daughters born in 2014. One of those, GCS Athena (by Vigo D’Arsouilles), won the Horse Sport Ireland Three Year Old Loose Jumping competition in Warrington Equestrian Centre in December. In July 2015 her filly foal by Cornet Obolensky was the Reserve Showjumping Filly in the HSI Foal Championship qualifier at Wexford Equestrian Centre.
The Irish Horse Gateway would like to wish Sergio Alvarez Moya well with this promising partnership.
