Description
Beautifully bred 4 year old mare offered for sale. By dual purpose traditional sire Carrick Diamond Lad, out of a Hermes de Reve mare who goes back through her sire line to Touchdown and Galoubet and her dam line to two outstanding performance TBs, First Council and Chou Chin Chow.
Aphrodite is the 2nd foal out of the dam. The 1st foal is starting an eventing career in the UK, where the owner is very excited about his big jump and his love of cross country.
Aphrodite, like her older brother, is extremely brave. The first time she was shown a course of fences, she popped around them without hesitating – including fillers. (I don’t have any jumps at home, and she wasn’t loose jumped at 3, but she’s been making little courses for herself around the field since she was a foal!)
Conformationally, she is correct and clean limbed. She moves straight and is light on the ground. She has a big white face and four white socks – what’s not to love!!
She is a very clever horse, and loves to learn. She picks things up very quickly, retains everything, and loves to please.
She has a big personality, loves talking to people and enjoys a good scratch. Adores fruit mentos! Warning: loves to pull the spray nozzles off the bonnets of cars!!
She was started under saddle in autumn 2022 then let off for the winter. Brought back into work in July, and has been in a professional yard being gently produced with longevity in mind ever since. Work has been focused on helping her to find her balance under saddle, building her strength to carry the rider and helping her to gain confidence over small fences (60cm) as she learns about take-off points and lengthening and shortening her stride.
She has been to a couple of different venues to give her experience – she was more relaxed about it than the older horses! She hasn’t been to any training shows yet.
Aphrodite is still a green young horse, but is an outstanding prospect. A huge character with an old head on her shoulders. Sane enough for an amateur (with a few more miles on the clock) yet could make up into anything, what with her athleticism and mind.
Stabled 30 mins from Dublin Airport. Open to visits by appointment.
This is a genuinely lovely, unspoiled young Irish horse being offered for sale by the breeder, who is a non-commercial producer who focuses on producing horses correctly rather than quickly.
