Description

Stunning looking ‘polished mahogany’ bay, full 138 cms Connemara Gelding, 8yrs. Superb performance bloodlines. Temple Bready Fear Bui, Village Boy, Ashfield Jovial Joker & more.
A very late starter due to the absence of a child rider. Now jumping a course of fences. He is very brave. Snaffle mouth. Extremely agile. Hacks out on the road and in forestry. He has the conformation of a real jumping athlete. Great mover. Showing huge scope and is extremely careful, with great jumping technique. Now ready for a good pony rider to pair up with and bring out his full potential. Likely to make a top class 138 cms show jumping pony. Quiet with a Lovely kind temperament. He has shown signs of sweet itch but it has been easily managed with a fly rug and good stable management. It won’t stop him winning many classes in the future with a gutsy rider. Perfect for a competitive child moving up from 128’s. Hero will go all the way to the top in the right hands. We will sell a share in the pony or lease him or come to an arrangement with, the parents of an ambitious and talented rider who are looking for a pony with big potential.

As a young rider I represented Ireland on numerous international showjumping teams. I was a member of the Bronze medal winning team at the Junior European Championships Dublin and subsequently rode for the Irish Army Equitation School in both showjumping and eventing. I won a young horse championship at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) show on the Army horse Gabhran (subsequent Aga Khan and Hickstead Derby winner). I have bred showring champions and have had several champion ponies through my yard, including the working hunter champion Derrygimla Atlantic Storm (Cavan International Working Hunter Pony Champion and also Horse of the Year Show Champion UK) and the Champion Stallion Killacloran, both of which I bought as foals. I also bought Killacloran Fuinseoige as a foal and he has sired a ridden champion in England and other ponies that have gone to the UK where they compete successfully. Killacloran is the only Connemara stallion to win both the in-hand and ridden stallion classes twice at the Royal Dublin Society show. He also won the overall Connemara Pony Championship in 2010 and was Reserve Champion 2011. He also won the Connemara Pony High Jump at the World Connemara Pony Championships in Boswell in 2012, jumping over 1.4m.
